About Cala Santanyi Diving Center

Cala Santanyí Diving Center grew from Francisco Belmonte's passion for the sea. Francisco — known locally as Paco, the source of the centre's popular name — founded the school more than 20 years ago at the seafront of Cala Santanyí. He is now retired from daily operations but remains involved in logistics when present. His son Noe Belmonte leads the current operation as both skipper and SSI instructor, with more than two decades at the centre and a family ethos the website describes as a passion it "still aims to convey to every visitor."

The centre holds PADI and SSI affiliations. Guided boat dives reach 25 sites between Cala Figuera and Caló des Moro on Mallorca's quiet SE coast, including areas within the Reserva Marina del Migjorn de Mallorca. Cabrera Archipelago National Park day trips — 175 EUR per person, covering two dives, full equipment, dive insurance, computer, and the park permit — run as a separate, bookable expedition. Courses span Bubblemaker (age 8+) through Divemaster, with four specialties including Computer Diving, Night, Deep, and Perfect Buoyancy.

The Zodiac Kiwi One holds 12 passengers and is based directly at the cove. Single guided dives start at 45 EUR; volume pricing steps down to 36 EUR from the fifteenth dive. Equipment is rented by individual item. The team covers eight languages: Spanish, Mallorcan, English, German, French, Italian, Hungarian, and Swedish.

What Divers Say

Cala Santanyí Diving Center is consistently highly rated across review platforms and earned a Gold Company recognition for scuba diving in Mallorca in 2024. The cove itself is cited as a specific draw: Cala Santanyí's sheltered setting is described as beautiful and immediately accessible on arrival. Instructors are named and praised in multiple accounts for calm, patient instruction with first-time divers. Two themes repeat across the review record: close personal attention throughout the dive — reviewers describe staff monitoring them constantly — and the impulse to return for more training rather than treating the experience as a one-off.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Cabrera Archipelago day trip?
Cabrera Archipelago National Park sits roughly 18 km south of Cala Santanyí and is one of the most pristine dive destinations in the western Mediterranean, with strictly regulated access. The centre runs full-day excursions at 175 EUR per person, which includes two dives, full equipment, dive computer, dive insurance, and the national park permit. Advance booking is required and availability is limited by park access quotas.
What are the minimum ages for children's diving?
The Bubblemaker session accepts children from age 8 at a maximum depth of 2 metres (88 EUR, 2 hours). Discover Scuba Diving begins at 10, up to 6 metres, also 88 EUR. A fuller Try Scuba programme reaches 12 metres from age 10 at 130 EUR. Open Water Diver courses start at 10; Advanced Open Water starts at 12. Equipment is available in children's sizes.
How does the per-dive pricing work?
Single guided dives cost 45 EUR. Booking a run of 3 or more in the same trip reduces the per-dive price to 43 EUR; 6 or more to 41 EUR; 10 or more to 38 EUR; 15 or more to 36 EUR. Night dives carry a 10 EUR supplement (flashlight not included; rental is 5 EUR). The Cabrera day trip is priced separately at 175 EUR including full equipment, insurance, computer, and park permit.
Is this a family-run centre?
Yes. Cala Santanyí Diving Center was founded by Francisco Belmonte — Paco, from whom it takes its widely used popular name — more than 20 years ago. Francisco has retired from daily duties but remains involved in logistics and support. His son Noe Belmonte now leads operations as the boat's skipper and an SSI instructor with over 20 years at the centre. The rest of the instructor team — Juan Silvela, Peter Toth, and Oscar Camps — each bring PADI qualifications and multi-year tenures.
What makes the dive sites here distinctive?
The 25 sites between Cala Figuera and Caló des Moro run along one of Mallorca's quietest stretches of SE coastline, with the furthest sites within 15 minutes and two nautical miles of the centre. The area includes zones within the Reserva Marina del Migjorn de Mallorca, established in 2002, which has supported the recovery of marine life along this coast. The programme spans caves, reef, and Posidonia seagrass habitats. Cabrera Archipelago — fully protected since 1991 — is a separate day-trip destination.
What languages does the team speak?
Spanish and Mallorcan (Catalan) are the team's home languages. Beyond that, the instructors collectively cover English, German, French, Italian, Hungarian (Peter Toth, who worked previously in the Red Sea), and Swedish (Oscar Camps). Juan Silvela spent three years teaching diving in Thailand and brings English and Italian to the team. This makes the centre accessible across a wide range of European visitor groups.
