Roca S'Adolitx
Also known as: S'Adolitx, Roca de S'Adolitx
Rocky formation near Cala S'Adolitx, Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
The dive
S'Adolitx is a rocky islet that rises 12 metres above the surface off Cala del Vigatà — circumnavigate it at whatever depth suits your qualification and gas plan. The rock drops cleanly to 26 metres on the seaward side, with octopus, morays, and lobsters occupying the crevices. At 14 metres on the east-southeast face, a five-metre tunnel called 'La Cuarta cueva' cuts through the rock — short enough to see the exit from the entrance, wide enough to pass through comfortably. Pre-coralligene habitat covers the deeper rock faces, giving the formation more colour than the shallower reef sites nearby.
What makes it special
The hidden tunnel is the draw. Named 'La Cuarta cueva' — the fourth cave, after the three at Port Salvi nearby — it sits at a friendly 14 metres where even Open Water divers can experience a swim-through. The islet format means every circumnavigation is slightly different depending on your depth: shallow passes at 8-10m see schooling damselfish and sea bream in the light, while deeper circuits at 20-26m reveal the pre-coralligene community and the larger crevice dwellers. For mixed-level groups, S'Adolitx solves the common problem of one depth not suiting everyone.
Know before you go
Decide your depth before descending — the islet's uniform shape makes it easy to spiral deeper without noticing. A torch is worth carrying for the tunnel at 14m; it is short and daylight-visible from both ends, but a beam reveals the encrusting life on its walls. The east-southeast orientation of La Cuarta cueva means morning light penetrates best, creating better photo conditions than afternoon dives. S'Adolitx sits in the Port Salvi zone close to La Red and the Cuevas de Port Salvi — asking your centre to combine two of these on a single boat outing is standard practice and saves a trip.
