Itineraries (6)

The Central Atolls loop runs roughly eleven months a year, paused in June. The Baa manta season around Hanifaru Bay runs about July to October and the encounter there is by snorkel. The Deep South seven-atoll crossings run in the northeast monsoon and the Best of Maldives weeks run in January; both are advanced, current-heavy routes.

Central Atolls

7 nights· year-round

Male-to-Male 18-dive loop through North Male, South Male, Vaavu (Felidhoo) and Ari atolls. Runs about eleven months a year (paused in June); the operator publishes the route at atoll level, so individual dive sites are not named per departure.

Central Atolls & Hanifaru

7 nights· Jul-Oct

Central atolls plus the Baa manta aggregation. Hanifaru Bay is a UNESCO snorkel-only site, so the visit there is a snorkel excursion, not a dive.

North & Hanifaru

7 nights· Aug-Oct

North atolls plus the Baa manta season. The manta itinerary also takes in Kandooma and Guraidhoo in South Male en route north; Hanifaru Bay is snorkel-only. Confirm exact dates with the operator.

7 Atolls Route - South Hemisphere (Descend)

7 nights· NE monsoon

Male to Kooddoo/Gan, crossing North Male, South Male, Vaavu, Meemu, Thaa, Laamu and Gaafu Alifu at atoll level. Advanced plus nitrox certification and around 100 logged dives required for the currents.

7 Atolls Route - South Hemisphere (Ascend)

7 nights· NE monsoon

The return leg, Kooddoo to Male, through Gaafu Alifu, Laamu, Thaa, Meemu, Vaavu, South Male and North Male at atoll level; same advanced requirements.

The Best of Maldives

11 nights· January

10-11 night January crossing on Blue Force Three only, spanning Ari, Vaavu, Meemu, Thaa, Laamu, Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu, Fuvahmulah and Addu at atoll level. Advanced plus nitrox and around 100 logged dives required.

About

Blue Force Three is a 42-metre steel liveaboard launched in 2018 for Blue Force Fleet, the long-running Spanish operator in the Maldives. Twelve air-conditioned ensuite cabins take 26 guests, and guiding runs in both English and Spanish. The staple is the year-round Central Atolls week, a Male-to-Male loop through North Male, South Male, Vaavu and Ari built around drift channels, thilas and manta cleaning stations. From about July to October the Central Atolls & Hanifaru and North & Hanifaru weeks add the Baa manta season; the visit to Hanifaru Bay is a snorkel excursion, as the UNESCO core zone is closed to scuba. In the northeast monsoon the boat pushes south on the seven-atoll crossings toward Gaafu Alifu and Addu, and each January it runs the longer Best of Maldives, the fleet's furthest reach into the southern hemisphere. The operator sells its routes by atoll and theme rather than by a fixed list of named sites, so exact stops are set on board around weather and current. Who does it suit? The Central loop rewards comfortable Advanced divers, while the Deep South and Best of Maldives assume real current experience, nitrox certification and around 100 logged dives. Membrane nitrox is available for a surcharge, and Maldives government charges are collected on top of the cabin fare.

What Divers Say

Blue Force Three reads as a modern, spacious hull suited to travellers who want the classic Central Atolls week or the longer push south, with Spanish-speaking guiding a clear draw for the operator's European clientele. The Central loop is framed as the reliable all-rounder of drift channels, thilas and manta cleaning stations, while the Deep South and Best of Maldives crossings are pitched as advanced trips that demand genuine current experience and logged dives. The Baa manta season around Hanifaru Bay recurs as a seasonal highlight, understood as a snorkel encounter rather than a dive. Food and crew attentiveness earn steady mentions, and expectations skew comfortable and well run rather than luxurious.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much diving experience do I need for Blue Force Three?
The Central Atolls week suits Advanced divers with around 50 logged dives. The Deep South seven-atoll routes and the Best of Maldives require an Advanced qualification, nitrox certification and roughly 100 logged dives because of the strong currents.
What languages does the crew speak?
English and Spanish. Blue Force is a long-established Spanish operator, so Spanish-speaking guiding is standard.
Is nitrox free?
No. Membrane nitrox is available onboard for a surcharge. Bring your nitrox certification card, which is required for the Deep South and Best of Maldives routes.
Which route sees the mantas at Hanifaru Bay?
The Central Atolls & Hanifaru and North & Hanifaru weeks, roughly July to October. Hanifaru Bay is a UNESCO snorkel-only site, so the manta encounter is by snorkel, not scuba.
Where does the Deep South trip start and finish?
Male and Kooddoo in Gaafu Alifu; some southern trips also use Gan in Addu. Transfers to and from the boat run via the dhoni tender.
What fees are added on top of the cruise?
Maldives government charges (cruise tax, green tax and service tax), optional nitrox, and a per-night fuel supplement for departures from 1 August 2026. These are operator-collected government charges, not a DiveCodex fee.
