Cornetfish

Fistulariidae

Impossibly long and thin, cornetfish drift near the surface or trail behind you hoping to ambush small fish startled by your bubbles. Easy to miss until you notice a metre-long pipe gliding past.

An extremely long, thin fish with a tubular snout, often mistaken for a stick floating in the water. Greenish-silver body can reach over a meter.

Drifts near the surface or mid-water, often hovering motionless before darting away — an invasive Lessepsian migrant now common in the Med.
