A huge and colourful family — from tiny cleaner wrasses working at stations to large Napoleon wrasses that follow divers around. In the Med, ornate wrasses and rainbow wrasses add flashes of colour to every rocky reef.

One of the most colourful fish on Mediterranean reefs — males flash electric blue, green, and orange, while females and juveniles are brownish-red. Small but unmistakable.

Darts quickly between rocks and posidonia, rarely holding still — patience rewarded with a flash of iridescent colour.
