About

Oceanos Diving Center runs from Cala Canyelles, the cove just south of Tossa de Mar in the Lloret de Mar municipality, about half an hour from Girona airport. Founded in 2011 to grow scuba diving on this stretch of the Costa Brava, it has stayed a small, hands-on operation. There is a dive shop on site, a pool for try-dive practice, and free parking in front of the door.

The center works from its own boat rather than a fixed shore base, reaching more than fifteen dive points between Blanes and Tossa de Mar. The coastline here mixes shallow coves with deeper pinnacles. Illa de Tossa drops through radial canyons to vertical walls, Na Bosca splits into two rock formations either side of a sandy channel, and offshore rocks like Perduts and Santa Anna reward divers with the certification for 30 metres and beyond. Most outings suit Open Water through advanced and Nitrox divers, and the center also runs boat snorkeling to coves you cannot reach on foot.

Diving is scheduled on demand, seven days a week, around boat availability rather than a fixed advance timetable. The funnel starts with a beach or boat try-dive, then the Open Water course for anyone who wants to continue. Briefings run in Spanish and Catalan, with French and English on request. Transport from Barcelona can be arranged when you book.

What Divers Say

Reviewers return again and again to the instructors. They come across as patient, safety-focused, and good with nervous first-timers and children, and several visitors name them personally in their write-ups. The small, family-run feel is a recurring theme, as is clean, well-kept rental gear. People describe being eased into the water without panic and checked on throughout the dive.

The constructive notes cluster in older reviews and are about logistics, not instruction. Some visitors found they could not pick their dive sites in advance, ran into day-to-day scheduling tied to the boat, or felt the English briefings could be sharper. More recent feedback leans strongly positive. The picture is a well-liked small operator whose strength is the in-water experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Oceanos Diving Center based?
At Cala Canyelles, a cove in the Lloret de Mar municipality just south of Tossa de Mar, on the Costa Brava. The address is Ronda d'Europa 16, with free parking out front. It is roughly 30 minutes from Girona airport and about an hour from Barcelona, and the center can arrange transport from Barcelona on request.
Do I need diving experience to dive with Oceanos?
No. The center is built around first-timers. You can start with a beach try-dive of about two hours or a boat try-dive of three to four hours that includes a pool familiarisation session. From there the Open Water course is the next step. Instructors are used to nervous beginners and children.
Which dive sites does Oceanos visit?
The boat covers more than fifteen points between Blanes and Tossa de Mar. These range from shallow, sheltered coves to offshore pinnacles past 30 metres. Highlights include the canyons and walls of Illa de Tossa, the twin rocks of Roca Muladera, Na Bosca for night dives, and the deeper Perduts and Santa Anna for advanced divers.
How do I book a dive, and can I choose the site?
Book online, by phone, by email, or through booking platforms. Diving runs seven days a week but is scheduled on demand around boat availability rather than a fixed timetable, so it is worth contacting the center ahead and discussing which sites suit your level and the day's conditions.
What languages are dives run in?
Spanish and Catalan are the core languages, with French and English available on request. If you need an English-language briefing, mention it when you book so the center can plan for it.
Is Cala Canyelles a marine reserve, and do I need a permit?
No. The Tossa and Lloret coast sits within a Natura 2000 protected zone and the Massis de les Cadiretes natural area, but it is not a marine reserve. No diving permits, reserve fees, or diver quotas apply. The only costs are the center's own service fees.
What does it cost to dive with Oceanos?
Published prices cover the try-dives: around 75 EUR for the beach version and 110 EUR for the boat version with a pool session. Course, guided-dive, and rental prices are quoted on request, so contact the center for a current quote. Prices change, so confirm before you book.
