About

Prodivers Komandoo is the smaller, more intimate of Prodivers' two Lhaviyani Atoll bases, run by a four-instructor team at Komandoo Island Resort & Spa. The resort's own house reef is shallow and current-free, built for snorkelling, and holds hawksbill and green turtles alongside resident reef sharks. Certified divers head out by dhoni for the real draw: the Kuredu Express, a wreck the operator's own site calls one of the top dive spots in the Maldives, plus access to more than 50 sites across Lhaviyani and the neighbouring Noonu Atoll. Manta season near the Fushifaru Kandu marine reserve channel runs roughly November through March, with sightings possible outside that window too. Nitrox is free on every dive, and a priced rebreather option is available for divers who want it. The course range spans Discover Scuba Diving through Divemaster, and divers certified by other agencies are welcome with a valid card and log book. Where the flagship Prodivers base at Kuredu trades on scale, Komandoo leans into a quieter, small-island atmosphere: personal instruction, a manageable dive-centre size, and a resort snorkelling product strong enough to stand on its own. It suits divers and snorkellers who want a relaxed Prodivers base with one standout wreck dive close by, rather than a high-volume operation.

What Divers Say

Divers consistently frame Komandoo as the small, personal alternative within the wider Prodivers network, with the centre's own team leaning into "quality time" over throughput. The Kuredu Express comes up as the signature reason to choose this base, a wreck reachable without a long boat ride and rated among the operator's best regional dives. The house reef earns steady praise from snorkellers and non-divers travelling with certified partners, with turtles and reef sharks sighted reliably in shallow, easy conditions. Manta season near Fushifaru is a recurring seasonal highlight for repeat visitors. The overall picture is a compact, well-run dive centre suited to divers who want a quieter island base with one genuinely standout site, rather than the scale of a flagship operation.
