with Posidonia Dive
Canons is also part of the El Negre ridge, from Punta Cana more towards the south west. Descent by anchor to around 16 meters, crossed to the outside flank first, slowly going through the crevices, as the top of the ridge was totally covered by "moco". Couple morenas, one nice sized langosta, planaria rosa. Half an hour to the dive turned back back up and returned on the shallower side. On the deep side the ridge turns to Posidonia fields, while the shallower parts had less. Some felt the temperature was still cold for 5mm suit, no probs with my 7mm. Still discussion a bit on the boat whether "moco" is an invasive algae or the more natural behavior - In the last weekend dive at Tossa there was barely any, so seems also highly regional. Hermit crab on the open sand towards the end of the dive - to my shock couple photosubs picking it up several times, cleaning it up from the "moco", placing it back into the sand, totally not acceptable imo! Not a single photo/video is worth of interacting with marine life in such way.
