Playa de La Nea Veril del Cabo

Entry sits at the tip of the breakwater, dropping onto a black sandy bottom before the slope steepens fast into large rocky surfaces and reef. Stay shallow and it's a straightforward, easy dive suited to divers still building underwater confidence. Follow the slope down instead and it leads to Veril del Cabo, the cape's named drop-off, and on to Cueva de la Nea, a cave route reaching around 40m. The beach itself is relatively young in its current form, rebuilt with a new breakwater after a two-year renovation that reopened it in 2010.

Few shore entries on this coast offer both ends of the spectrum from one beach: an easy, shallow introduction and a genuinely deep, named cave route reaching 40m. A local operator based directly in Radazul runs Cueva de la Nea as an active house site, not a rarely-visited curiosity. That combination, beginner-friendly shallows and a real technical draw at depth, is the site's clearest distinction from the shallower shore dives elsewhere in this cluster.

Certification decides how much of this site you can reach. The shallow zone near the breakwater needs nothing beyond comfort in the water; Veril del Cabo and the Cueva de la Nea route call for Advanced or Deep Diver-level training and a torch for the cave sections. A 5mm wetsuit covers summer conditions; step up to 7mm for winter. Some centres use small boats to reach nearby sites from here, so it's worth checking whether your dive starts from the beach itself or a short Zodiac ride along the coast.
