About

More than twenty years on the Portitxol road have shaped Diving Javea into a specialist rather than a generalist. Javier, who owns and runs the centre, built the business around its own motto: Diving with quality. SSI and IANTD branding covers the door. The IANTD side is the real specialty. Sidemount conversions and cavern-to-cave certification progressions are the throughline. In-house Nitrox and Trimix blending rounds out the technical side.

The signature site is the Cova del Moraig, a cave that opens into daylight-depth recreational routes and drops toward 60 metres for divers with the right training. Wreck sites along the Javea coast add to the technical programme, while boat trips out to spots like Cabo de San Martin cover more conventional recreational diving. First-timers are not overlooked either. Standard try-dives and freediving courses, including an indoor pool option, run alongside the cave programme, so a first-time diver and a decades-long veteran converting to sidemount can both find their level.

What Divers Say

A recurring theme across reviews is loyalty: one diver mentions returning to the same instructors year after year, working through sidemount conversion and on into cave certification over multiple seasons. Reviewers name Javier and a guide called Volker specifically, praising how calmly newcomers are guided in, including a father-and-son trial dive where the teenage son was put at ease through clear, simple explanations. Safety and attentiveness come up more than any other theme; several reviewers describe trusting the operation with technical, higher-risk dives specifically because of that track record. No complaints about crowding or rushed service turn up in the reviews read.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Diving Javea offer cave diving courses for beginners?
The usual entry point is a try-dive or Open Water course. IANTD cave-specific training requires progressing through a cavern certification first. The Cova del Moraig itself combines shallow recreational sections with a technical zone reaching around 60 metres.
What is the Cova del Moraig dive like?
It opens into daylight-depth recreational routes accessible with standard training, then extends into a technical section descending toward 60 metres, reserved for divers with the appropriate cave certification.
Do I need diving insurance to dive in Spain with Diving Javea?
Yes. DAN diving insurance is compulsory under Spanish law, and the centre offers it on site from one day to one year. A medical statement is also required from every diver.
Can complete beginners try diving with Diving Javea?
Yes. Standard try-dives run 40-50 minutes in the water, with the same personalised instruction style the centre applies to its technical divers.
Does Diving Javea teach freediving?
Yes, including Discover APNEA I and II, an indoor pool course, and Freediver Level 1.
What technical certifications does Diving Javea offer?
SSI and IANTD, including IANTD Spain, with training in sidemount configuration, DPV (diver propulsion vehicle) use, and on-site Nitrox and Trimix blending.
Are there wreck dives near Javea with Diving Javea?
The centre references wreck sites along the Javea coastline as part of its technical programme, without naming specific wrecks.
