About

Fornells is one of Menorca's few natural harbours on the north coast, and the Reserva Marina del Norte de Menorca that lies beyond it covers territory that most island dive centres never reach. Diving Menorca has been the permanent presence here since 2011, when Nicolás Carbonell and Alberto Tejedor — both Marine Science graduates who trained as instructors together on El Hierro — chose Fornells to launch what they describe as "a project with soul." What began as a single centre at Poeta Gumersind Riera, 98 has expanded to include a second facility, Diving Menorca Academy, at number 34 on the same street. Three boats are berthed in the port of Fornells, less than 50 metres from the door.

The Norte reserve is the exclusive operating territory: the north coast's channels, caves, and posidonia meadows, accessed by no other permanently based centre on the island. Two daily departures run at 8:30 and 10:45. Each trip includes dive computer, security kit, 15L tank, marine reserve fees, guide, and water on board — all at no extra charge. The full team of seven includes instructors Javier Bermejo and Juan Cuadra, skipper-instructors Eneritz Zabaleta and Endika Fernández, and guest services by Laura Montoliu. Briefings run in Spanish, French, and English. The centre holds Red Natura 2000 network affiliation alongside its SSI accreditation, and operates on Aqualung and Garmin equipment.

What Divers Say

Divers consistently rate this centre highly. Those returning in 2025-2026 repeatedly highlight Nicolás and Alberto as personally present underwater — reviewers describe them bringing "seasoned eyes" to the marine environment. Multi-language briefings in French and Spanish draw repeat comments from European visitors. A May 2026 reviewer described the centre as "never seen a club so well organized," citing new equipment and team coordination.
