About

Euro-Divers Vilamendhoo is a multilingual PADI 5-star centre at Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa in South Ari Atoll, built around one of the Maldives' largest easily accessible house reefs. The 900-metre reef rings the island with ten separate entry and exit points, so certified divers can go in and out at their own pace all day, including guided night dives and night snorkels. The northern side runs as a steep drift with eagle rays, mobulas, reef sharks and snapper schools, while the southern side is a coral wall favoured by macro shooters for lionfish, morays, Napoleon wrasse and nudibranchs. Beyond the house reef, dhoni day trips work across 50-plus South Ari sites, with morning two-tank, afternoon and full-day options run daily. Four named sites anchor the boat programme: Broken Rock, the premier thila of Kudahrah Thila, the Machchafushi wreck in the Dhigurah channel, and the manta cleaning station at Rangali Madivaru. South Ari's marquee draw is close at hand too - whale sharks are possible year-round on full-day trips to the marine protected area, and manta cleaning stations shift seasonally around the atoll. Nitrox is complimentary for certified divers, and underwater scooter dives are available as an add-on. The result is a high-volume, well-run resort operation suited to divers who want quantity, variety and marquee pelagics from a single comfortable base.

What Divers Say

Divers consistently point to the house reef as the standout: a genuinely large reef reachable from the beach, with ten entry points that make it easy to log extra dives between boat outings at no added dive cost thanks to free nitrox for certified divers. The South Ari day-trip programme gets equal billing, anchored by year-round whale-shark trips to the marine protected area and manta cleaning stations that shift with the season. Named sites like Kudahrah Thila and Broken Rock come up as reliable highlights on the boat schedule, alongside the Machchafushi wreck for those wanting structure beyond reef diving. Night dives and night snorkels on the house reef are a recurring favourite. The overall picture is a full-service, multilingual operation that suits beginners working through PADI courses as well as experienced divers chasing drift and pelagic action, more geared to volume and variety than boutique intimacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get there?
Vilamendhoo Island Resort is reached by seaplane from Male, around 20 minutes' scenic flight per the own site.
Is nitrox available and free?
Yes. Nitrox fills are complimentary for certified nitrox divers; a non-certified fill costs USD 7, or you can take the nitrox course on site.
Can beginners dive here?
Yes. The centre runs the full PADI course range from first-timer experiences to advanced certifications, and the sheltered house reef suits training and check-out dives.
When can I see whale sharks and mantas?
Whale sharks are possible year-round via full-day trips to the South Ari Marine Protected Area; mantas shift seasonally between cleaning stations around the atoll. Sightings are frequent but never guaranteed.
House reef or boat dives?
Both. The 900m house reef with 10 entry points is divable at your own pace all day, including night dives, while daily morning two-tank, afternoon and full-day boat trips reach 50+ sites. Boat trips are charged on top of the dive/package price.
Are there extra government charges?
The Maldives applies government levies (green tax, and park/MPA charges where applicable) that resorts and operators collect on the government's behalf; these are separate from the dive price.
