About

Centro de Buceo Scorpora has been running boat trips out of L'Alfàs del Pí since spring 1995, under the same management team throughout. The premises include separate dressing rooms, showers, and a drying room, with fast-fill compressors and an equipment rinse sink to keep gear ready between trips. The centre holds an official Generalitat Valenciana diving-operator licence (CD019A) and works from an 11-metre boat fitted with a 20-cylinder rack, hyperbaric oxygen equipment, and a stern platform built for easy exits and entries.

The house philosophy pushes back against what the centre itself calls "express diving." Trips are paced to the group in front of them rather than run on a fixed schedule. Weekend mornings in June and October bring a signature double-dive format: the first stop is usually Isla de Benidorm or the nearby La Luna Islet, the second at Isla Mediana, La Pileta, or the Cuevas del Elefante. A captain stays aboard for surface support throughout. Instructors are then free to focus entirely on the group underwater. Winter trims the schedule to weekends only, though courses run all year. Diving sits alongside a wider offer here, with snorkelling, fishing charters, paddle surf, and boat hire rounding out the activity list.

What Divers Say

Recent reviews describe a warm welcome for people trying diving for the first time, several explicitly saying they arrived nervous and left converted. The unhurried pace shows up in reviewer accounts too: nobody describes feeling rushed, and more than one mentions choosing this centre specifically on a personal recommendation from someone in Albir. Confidence-building seems to be the throughline. One review mentions a child wanting to go straight back out for a second try dive, which says more about the experience than a star rating could. The overall tone across recent write-ups is reassurance rather than adrenaline. Divers describe feeling safe and looked after more often than describing what they actually saw underwater.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long has Scorpora been operating?
Since spring 1995, under the same management team throughout its history. The centre also holds an official Generalitat Valenciana diving-operator licence.
Is a permit required to dive around Isla de Benidorm?
No. The island and surrounding waters sit within the Serra Gelada Natural Park, which carries protected-area status but no diver permit, quota, or booking restriction beyond joining a trip with a centre.
What does the centre mean by avoiding 'express diving'?
It describes how trips are paced: dives are planned around the group booked that day rather than run on a fixed, high-turnover schedule.
Does Scorpora dive anywhere besides Isla de Benidorm?
Yes. Weekend double-dive mornings in June and October typically pair a first dive at Isla de Benidorm or La Luna Islet with a second at Isla Mediana, La Pileta, or the Cuevas del Elefante.
Can I dive with Scorpora in winter?
Course training runs year-round, but boat diving trips scale back to weekends only once winter sets in.
Do I need any certification for a first dive?
No. First dives (bautismo de buceo) run to a maximum depth of 7 metres with an instructor, and reviewers consistently describe the experience as calm and confidence-building rather than intense.
Does the centre only run diving trips?
No. Alongside diving, the same operation runs snorkelling trips, fishing charters, paddle surf rental, and boat hire from L'Alfàs del Pí.
