About

Terceira Adventures, registered as Terceira Adventures, Lda. (NIF 512105120) at Porto das Pipas, runs boat dives out of that marina in Angra do Heroismo, on Terceira's south coast, as one strand of a wider outdoor operation that also covers snorkelling, seabird watching and nature trails. The business itself is older than its time on this island: it traces back to 2002, when it opened on Graciosa under the name Nautigraciosa, running dives and offshore seabird-watching trips there until 2022. A corporate restructuring brought the new Terceira Adventures name in 2024, and the centre began operating from Angra do Heroismo in April 2025.

Diving here is SSI-affiliated, with a course ladder running from Try Scuba through Divemaster and Assistant Instructor, alongside a separate technical-diving line and multi-day diving expeditions distinct from the standard coastal boat dives. The house sites named on its own dive-sites page include the Cemetery of Anchors, a bay scattered with anchors lost by ships sheltering from storms, dived to 25 metres and requiring an Advanced Open Water certification; the wreck of the steamship Lidador, sunk in 1878, sitting broken up in shallow water at 10 metres and open to Open Water divers; and a cave dive off the Ilheu das Cabras islet where eagle rays and reef fish are often seen. Two less commonly listed sites, a seamount called Cabeco do Farol and a set of arches known as Arcadas do Judeu, round out its published roster. One team member named on the centre's own site, Angelo Mesquita, holds an Advanced Open Water certification alongside a skipper's qualification.

What divers say

The two reviews on record for Terceira Adventures both single out the team's competence and care. One describes a first-time diving couple each given individual, one-on-one guidance from an instructor, taken to an old wreck busy with fish. The other highlights capable, reassuring guides, feeling welcomed and safe, and equipment described as new. Both name the underwater setting itself as the highlight of the trip. Because the centre only began operating on Terceira in April 2025, its review base across every platform is still thin and newer than the harbour's more established names, so these two accounts, while consistently positive, are not yet a large sample.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an experienced diver for the Ilheu das Cabras cave dive?▾

Terceira Adventures lists this cave dive at 3 to 30 metres and pairs it on its own site with an Open Water Diver minimum, but Open Water training typically only certifies divers to around 18-20 metres. Expect the deeper part of that range to be reserved for divers who already handle it comfortably or have more experience, and confirm with the centre before booking how deep your particular group will be taken.

Is there anything to know about decompression risk before diving here?▾

Terceira Adventures' own pre-dive guidance flags that altitude and physical exertion both raise the risk of decompression sickness, so it is worth avoiding strenuous exertion and following the standard no-fly interval before any onward flight or altitude change after your last dive.

Does Terceira Adventures run technical diving or multi-day expeditions?▾

Yes: alongside its standard day boat dives, the centre keeps a separate technical-diving line and organises multi-day diving expeditions, distinct product lines from the coastal dives most visitors book first.

Is Terceira Adventures a new arrival in Angra do Heroismo, and does that show in its reviews?▾

It is: the centre only began diving operations on Terceira in April 2025, after relocating from Graciosa, where it had run as Nautigraciosa since 2002. Its review count is still small next to the harbour's longer-established operators, simply because it has had far less time to accumulate one.

Does the centre offer nitrox fills?▾

Its own equipment list names air fills only, with no nitrox listed; divers wanting nitrox should confirm directly with the centre before relying on a fill there.

How do I book a dive with Terceira Adventures?▾

Booking runs through WhatsApp, by email, or via a reservations page on its own site; one address handles bookings and a different one handles general enquiries, both listed on its contacts page.
