About Blue Dive Menorca

Blue Dive Menorca holds SSI Instructor Training Centre status from its base at Port d'Addaia on Menorca's north coast — the highest SSI certification tier, which enables the full instructor development pathway from Open Water through Staff Instructor level. The programme also includes Extended Range (XR) technical diving: dives involving decompression, twin cylinders, or staged tanks, with instruction capacity that puts the centre among the few Balearic operations with an active technical programme. The centre operates under two names: Blue Dive Menorca and Blue Dive Experience (bluedivexperience.com).

The Addaya marina sits inside the boundary of the Reserva Marina del Norte de Menorca, so the reserve starts before the boat engine does. Swiss Cheese, the north coast's most photographed reef, is less than five minutes from the dock. Punta Grossa adds wall and point diving with large pelagic life. Cave options include The Big Cave, a two-branch system where red coral covers surfaces from 30 m downward, stalactites descend from the ceiling, and lobsters occupy the deeper recesses. The centre runs annual seabed waste collection events.

The team briefs and instructs in five languages: German, English, French, Spanish, and Italian. Snorkeling and taxi-boat trips depart from Addaya marina for non-diving companions. The centre is open Monday to Saturday throughout the year.

What Divers Say

Blue Dive Menorca is well-rated by divers, with consistent recognition among the top experiences in Port d'Addaia, with the most recent review from May 2026. The strongest recurring theme is guide knowledge of the Northern Marine Reserve: reviewers consistently describe pristine conditions, high grouper density, and octopus sightings that exceed expectations. Small group sizes and well-maintained equipment feature in multiple accounts. The multilingual team draws specific praise from German and French-speaking divers who valued being briefed in their own language. At 4.6, the aggregate reflects a predominantly strong experience, with the centre's XR technical programme and reserve guide quality its most praised attributes across the review volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Extended Range (XR) diving and who is it available for?
Extended Range (XR) is SSI's technical diving framework, covering dives beyond standard recreational limits — typically deeper than 40 m and involving decompression stops, twin tanks, or staged cylinders. Blue Dive Menorca is one of the few centres in the Balearics to offer active XR instruction and guided technical dives. It is available to qualified divers who already hold recreational certifications and wish to pursue technical training or supervised XR dives at depth. Contact the centre for prerequisites and course options.
How close is Swiss Cheese and what makes it worth diving?
Swiss Cheese is less than five minutes by boat from the Port d'Addaia dock — one of the shortest boat runs to a marquee Menorca site. The site is a shallow reef with an unusually dense network of cavities, tunnels, and holes at 3-18 m, making it accessible to a wide range of certification levels. It sits inside the Northern Marine Reserve, where fishing restrictions have resulted in markedly higher fish density than unprotected areas.
Does the centre operate inside the Northern Marine Reserve?
Yes. Port d'Addaia marina falls within the boundary of the Reserva Marina del Norte de Menorca, and the great majority of Blue Dive Menorca's guided dives take place inside the protected zone. The reserve's restrictions on fishing and anchoring contribute to the biodiversity visible on dives. The centre also runs annual seabed waste collection dives as part of its conservation programme.
What languages does the team speak?
The team delivers briefings and instruction in five languages: German, English, French, Spanish, and Italian. This multilingual range serves the north Menorca visitor mix and makes the centre one of the more accessible options for Central European divers who prefer not to dive in their second language. Bookings can be made in any of the five languages.
What multi-dive packages are available?
Blue Dive Menorca offers a 6-dive pack (57 EUR/dive with full equipment; 43 EUR/dive with tank and weights only) and a 10-dive pack (53 EUR/dive full equipment; 39 EUR/dive tank and weights only). A double-dip option runs two dives in one day at 115 EUR with full equipment or 90 EUR tank and weights only. A night dive supplement of +10 EUR applies per night dive. Confirm current validity periods for packs when booking.
Does the centre operate year-round?
Yes. Blue Dive Menorca operates Monday to Saturday throughout the year, 09:00-18:00, with a wider contact window of 08:00-20:00. This makes it one of the few Menorca centres to maintain full operation outside the summer season, which is useful for divers visiting in spring, autumn, or winter.
