About Blue Islands Diving
When Enza and Pietro moved from Milan to Menorca in January 2021 and acquired Blue Islands Diving three months later, they were acting on a direct impulse: the centre's own About page describes it as "a dream come true, our dream." The operation they took over had been running since 2009; they brought it a stronger conservation identity.
Blue Islands Diving is based in Cala Galdana, a south-coast cove roughly 20 kilometres east of Ciutadella. From the boat "Istar," the dive programme extends in three directions: south-coast sites off the home bay, west to the Malakoff wreck and Pont d'en Gil cave, and north to Swiss Cheese (Queso Suizo) at Arenal d'en Castell — three of Menorca's signature dives from a single base. Groups are capped at ten for boat excursions.
SSI courses run from Try Scuba (ages 10+) through Divemaster and a set of specialities including Sidemount Diver. A parallel boat-tour programme runs independently: south-coast beach excursions, snorkelling safaris, and sunset trips. Pietro is an SSI instructor and certified boat captain; Enza manages bookings and the centre's ecological focus; Roberto, who trained in Honduras, is an additional SSI instructor on the team.
Conservation credentials are active rather than decorative: the centre holds the Menorca UNESCO Biosphere Reserve seal, is a Plastic Free Menorca Alliance member, and participates in the Observadores del Mar citizen-science marine monitoring programme. Five languages — Spanish, English, Italian, French, and Catalan — are spoken on-site.
What Divers Say
Blue Islands Diving is consistently highly rated by divers, with a record built across many seasons for a single-boat SSI centre. The consistency of the scores reflects a programme that works reliably across many seasons rather than isolated highlights. The conservation identity comes through as a differentiator: guests describe a centre that takes the marine environment seriously without making each dive feel like a lecture. The Italian–Spanish multilingual team attracts mentions across reviews in several languages, and the breadth of the offer — south-coast sites, cave and wreck in the west, north-coast formations, and boat tours for non-divers — suits the full range of Cala Galdana's international visitors.
