About
Divers Cape runs a full PADI course ladder from Porto da Baleeira, the marina at Sagres, at the western tip of the Algarve where the coast turns rockier and the water is reported clearer than the sheltered stretches further east. It is a PADI 5 Star operation, working in four languages: English, Portuguese, German and Spanish.
Its course list goes well past the recreational range: alongside the standard Open Water through Rescue progression, it teaches the full PADI TecRec ladder, from Discover Tec through Tec 40, 45, 50 and 65 TMx, sidemount and gas blending, a depth of technical training not every Algarve operator offers.
Diving here is boat-based, launching from the marina into the Costa Vicentina natural park, where the coastline breaks into caves, canyons and passages rather than open reef. The specialty list runs beyond the technical side too: night diving, wreck diving, search and recovery, underwater photography and a Deep Diver course that goes to 40 m. Fun diving is sold in 1, 2, 6 and 10-dive boat packages, with or without equipment, alongside a refresher for divers returning after time out of the water.
What divers say
Two independent first-hand accounts and a review record running into the hundreds line up on the same point: this is a small, organised Sagres operation that keeps running through the whole year, not just the high season, a pattern one reviewer specifically called out as unusual for the area. One name recurs across the reviews, spanning several years: André, credited repeatedly for organising trips, training dive-master interns and guiding personally. Individual staff are named on specific dives too, an instructor for a beach-entry dive, a guide for a boat trip, but the volume and consistency of the praise sit with André. Across both platforms the negative tail is negligible: a handful of critical reviews out of several hundred, with no repeated complaint pattern in the most recent write-ups.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of dive sites does Divers Cape visit?▾
Diving here runs generically across the natural park and the Vicentina coast, a mix of caves, canyons and passages within recreational limits. One diver's account names a canyon dive, 'Shadow Canyon,' as a trip highlight, and another describes tunnels running under the cliff on a separate dive.
Can I try diving without being certified?▾
Yes. Discover Scuba Experience runs as a half day, either from shore (105 EUR) or by boat (115 EUR), and Bubblemaker offers a pool taster from age 8.
How deep does the Deep Diver specialty go?▾
The Deep Diver specialty runs two days and takes certified divers to 40 m, PADI's own recreational specialty limit.
Is Divers Cape affiliated with SSI or CMAS as well as PADI?▾
No independent SSI record exists for this centre, and no CMAS affiliation was found either; its course ladder, recreational and technical, runs entirely on PADI standards.
What exposure protection do divers need here?▾
Water temperature varies by season. One diver's account from an early-September trip describes needing a full wetsuit with hood, boots and gloves, so cooler-water kit is worth having even outside winter.
Is diving with Divers Cape boat-based or shore-based?▾
Boat-based: every fun-diving package runs from Porto da Baleeira marina, out into the natural park's caves, canyons and passages.
