About

Since 1997, Divespot Portugal has run from Rua das Gaivotas in Armação de Pêra, a central-Algarve town between Albufeira and Carvoeiro, and describes itself as the town's only dive centre. It is SSI-affiliated, carrying the SSI Blue Oceans Center badge, under the trading name DiveSpot Algarve-Portugal. Its dive ground is what the centre calls the largest natural reef in Portugal, protected inside the Algarve Reef Marine Nature Park at Pedra do Valado.

Trips run in small groups from two boats moored at the town beach, also used for recreational visits to nearby sea caves. Among the sites it regularly dives are Ferro da Armação, an old iron tuna-trap wreck around 18 m out; the shallow, beginner-friendly Tunnels & Bridge; and 2 Ancoras, among others. Alongside reef trips and a no-certification-required Discover Scuba Diving session, the centre runs Citizen Science dives, where paying divers collect biodiversity-monitoring data alongside its own marine-biologist staff, and takes on contracted scientific diving work: habitat mapping, data collection and equipment deployment for universities and official bodies.

Instruction and trips run in English and Portuguese, and the centre holds Portuguese tourism-operator registration RNAAT 240/2010.

What divers say

Reviewers describe a small, safety-conscious, personal operation, and several compare it favourably with a higher-volume neighbour elsewhere in the area, said to focus on volume dive-baptism bookings over a small-group format. Reviews run overwhelmingly toward the top of the scale, with none rated poorly. The closest thing to a recurring note is about conditions, not service: one 2025 reviewer mentions limited visibility across four dives done with the centre. Staff are named repeatedly and warmly across reviews: Armando, described as a Franco-Portuguese guide who helps with advice and communication, along with Luis, Susana and João.
