About Jungle Divers Cozumel

Jungle Divers sits on Cozumel's Costera Sur, a 5 to 10 minute walk from the cruise piers at Puerta Maya. The whole layout is built around that walk: a diver can leave the ship, gear up, and be back before the all-aboard call. Reef and wall trips run in small groups, four divers to a guide most of the time, at a pace that isn't clocked. One July outing logged two dives past 70 minutes each, run to the day's conditions and not a printed schedule.

The shop doesn't own a boat. Reef and wall trips go out on chartered space instead. On the water that hasn't cost it repeat custom: divers name the same guide and booking contact across independent accounts written years apart.

Beyond the reef, Jungle Divers runs day trips to the Riviera Maya cenote system, Dos Ojos, Chac Mool and Kukulcan among them, as guided cavern excursions capped at 40 meters with a Full Cave-certified guide, constant guideline contact and four divers per guide. Courses run the full PADI ladder through TecRec, and an in-house technician with two decades' experience services major dive gear brands alongside the diving.

What divers say

Two names recur across independent accounts of this shop, spanning Google reviews and multiple community write-ups written months apart: a guide named Steph, sometimes Stef, and Alex, who handles bookings mainly over WhatsApp. A resident loggerhead turtle turns up under the same name, Charley, in two of those accounts, independently. Reviewers also describe being slotted in at short notice after another operator cancelled on them, and dive days with no fixed schedule behind them.

The chartered-boat model draws mixed reception. One dated account, from a competitor who has since closed her own shop, dismissed it outright, a stance at odds with this shop's own marketing against rivals who rent boat space from bigger operators. A more recent account describing the identical arrangement reads as neutral, with no complaint attached.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I dive with Jungle Divers straight off a cruise ship?▾

Yes. The shop is a 5 to 10 minute walk along the water from the Puerta Maya and International Pier cruise docks, and trips are timed to ship arrival and departure, not a resort's fixed schedule. Resort pier pickup is also available, though a dock fee charged by the resort, not the dive shop, can apply.

Does Jungle Divers run its own boat?▾

No. Reef and wall trips go out on chartered boat space; the shop does not own a boat. A dated, competitor-written account criticised that setup years ago; more recent accounts describe the same arrangement neutrally, alongside dives that regularly run well past an hour.

How many divers are in a group?▾

Four per guide most of the time, with the shop's own materials citing six as the maximum. Independent accounts consistently describe small-group trips, which lines up with that figure.

How long do the dives run?▾

Longer than a typical clocked dive. One outing on record covered two dives past 70 minutes each. The pace follows the divers' air and the day's conditions, not a stopwatch, a detail that recurs across multiple accounts.

Does Jungle Divers offer cenote diving?▾

Yes, as a day trip into the Riviera Maya cenote system, not a Cozumel dive. Chac Mool, Kukulcan, Dos Ojos, Tajma Ha and El Eden are named, plus deeper expert-level options at El Pit, Dream Gate and Angelita. Cenote trips run under a 40 meter depth cap with a Full Cave-certified guide, constant guideline contact, and four divers per guide: the standard cavern-zone safety rules, not Cozumel's open-water limits.

Can I book at the last minute?▾

The shop has a reputation for making room for late bookings. Several reviewers describe being fit in on short notice, including after another operator cancelled on them. Given the cruise-focused schedule, contacting the shop directly by WhatsApp or email is the fastest way to check same-day availability.

What is Jungle Divers' Ocean Reef affiliation?▾

It is an Ocean Reef Authorized Dealer, Training and Service Center for full-face masks, a credential most Cozumel shops don't carry. It's useful for a diver who already holds a full-face mask certification, or wants to try one.
