Scuba Malta

Scuba Malta runs from Portomaso Marina in St Julian's, on Malta's northeast coast next to Sliema and Paceville, and is one of the newest dive centres in the area rather than an established brand with decades behind it. It was built by instructor and explorer Enol Argüelles, who worked at diving centres in several countries before setting up on his own in Malta with SSI and PADI accreditation. The centre runs daily guided fun dives for certified divers in small groups, capped at four divers per instructor, alongside a full course ladder from try dives through Divemaster and Instructor level, technical options including Deep Diver and Decompression Diving, and a dedicated wreck-diving line built around Malta's WWII and patrol-boat wrecks.

Most diving here is shore-based, with boat trips reserved for full-day outings to Gozo and Comino and premium packages such as a Triple Wreck Diving Day covering Tug 2, X127 and HMS Maori. A second location in St Paul's Bay has already been announced, an expansion signal for a business still building its first full year of trading. The team is genuinely multilingual: English, Spanish, Italian, French and German are all spoken day to day, and staff correspondence with reviewers has been observed in more than one of those languages.

For a centre this young, the review record is striking: Google shows 4.9 out of 5 across 1,345 ratings, and TripAdvisor shows 4.8 out of 5 across 77 reviews, with roughly 95% landing in the top two rating bands. The dominant theme is named-instructor praise across a sizeable roster rather than one or two standout guides, paired with patient handling of nervous or first-time divers and a consistent small-group feel. One review mentions a minor equipment hiccup, a loose weight belt corrected smoothly mid-dive, which reads as a routine footnote rather than any pattern of concern. Management responses to reviews have been observed in English, French and Spanish, a genuine engagement signal rather than a templated reply.
