About Scuba Mallorca

Scuba Mallorca has run from Port de Pollença since 1999, making it the longest-established PADI dive school on Mallorca's northern coast. It is a family business: owner Tom dived the Bay of Pollença from the age of ten and now operates the centre with his wife and a team built around local knowledge and personal history with the water. Cristina is a biologist and certified scientific diver, born locally. Juan — Cristina's father — made a career change into diving at his daughter's encouragement. Pedro captains the boat and brings navigating experience from around the world. Pere is a Mallorcan archaeologist turned instructor.

The bay offers 30+ named dive sites spanning easy shore entries at 12-16m through to advanced deep dives at 40m. The single boat — a 12.5-metre planing hull certified for up to 10 divers — reflects a deliberate small-group format: two dive platforms, twin ladders, and a capacity that keeps groups manageable. Morning departures start at 09:00 for double-dive trips; afternoon single dives run from 14:30. Free transfers cover Port de Pollença, Pollença, Alcudia, and Can Picafort.

The curriculum runs the full PADI range, including Freediving alongside the standard scuba track. Tom's background in underwater photography shapes the photography specialty course and an in-house camera rental service.

What Divers Say

Scuba Mallorca is consistently among the highest-rated PADI centres in north Mallorca. Reviewers consistently describe a personalised experience shaped by the team's investment in the bay — the biologist who knows the seasonal species patterns, the archaeologist who explains the submerged history of a site, the boat captain who has navigated these waters for years. The 30+ site variety draws specific praise: beginners find easy, guided entry points; advanced divers reach 40m arches and deep tunnel systems from the same base. The small-boat format — a recurring point of contrast with larger multi-diver operations — is seen as central to the quality of the experience rather than a limitation on capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What dive sites does Scuba Mallorca access in the Bay of Pollença?
The centre operates across 30+ named sites in and around the bay. The range runs from easy shore dives at 12-16m — cuttlefish, seahorses, and rays — through intermediate boat sites with arches, tunnels, and caves at 18-30m, up to advanced dives at 34-40m with large tunnel systems and open-water arch formations.
Is Scuba Mallorca a family business?
It is. Owner Tom has dived the Bay of Pollença since childhood and runs the centre with his wife and a close-knit team. Cristina is a local biologist and certified scientific diver; Juan, Cristina's father, changed careers into diving; Pere is a Mallorcan archaeologist who became a dive instructor. The single 10-diver boat reflects the small-group ethos rather than a capacity limitation.
What courses and specialties are offered?
Full PADI range from Discover Scuba and Bubblemaker (age 8+) through Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, and Divemaster. Specialties include Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, Underwater Photographer, Navigation, and Scooter Diver. A PADI Freediving programme is available alongside the scuba curriculum.
How do I book or get pricing information?
Contact the centre directly by phone or WhatsApp. Free transfers operate from Port de Pollença, Pollença, Alcudia, Port d'Alcudia, Alcanada, Playa de Muro, and Can Picafort.
What is the Bay of Pollença like for diving?
The bay is a sheltered horseshoe at Mallorca's northern tip, protected from most weather systems. Calm conditions at the surface translate into good visibility at depth for much of the season, making it approachable for beginners while the outer coast sites challenge advanced divers.
