About

ATLANTIK Scuba Diving Tenerife runs from the Hotel Precise Resort complex in Puerto de la Cruz, about 300 metres from Loro Parque on the island's north coast. The Christoph family from Germany opened the school in 1994, and patriarch Eberhard spent its early years combing the coastline from small inflatable boats, searching out and naming dive sites that had no name before. Several of those finds are still part of the regular boat-dive rotation decades later. His sons now run the operation day to day: Thomas as General Manager, a PADI Master Instructor who started diving at fifteen and has logged more than 10,000 dives, and Dirk, who handles instruction and administration, started at twelve, and has passed 12,000 dives as a VDST/CMAS Instructor. The centre holds PADI Gold Palm 5 Star IDC Resort status alongside SSI affiliation, and runs a dedicated technical-diving programme under PRO TEC, covering rebreathers, trimix and deep training well beyond the standard recreational course ladder. Two boat dives go out most days aboard the Gitano, refitted in 2018, with a fixed 8:50am meeting time. The school closes on Sundays and takes the whole of May off for staff holiday. A stocked dive shop carries Scubapro, Sub-Gear, Cressi-Sub, Aqualung and Tecnomar gear, priced for the Canary Islands' lower sales tax.

What Divers Say

Reviews on TripAdvisor and Google settle on the same theme: ATLANTIK is rigorous rather than relaxed. Divers repeatedly single out the safety briefings and pre-dive procedure, and several describe instructors who care more about correcting technique than making a single holiday dive feel effortless. One reviewer put it plainly: not the outfit for a laid-back once-a-year dip, but hard to fault if what you actually want is to improve. That pattern shows up in the numbers too, a 4.2 out of 5 on Google across more than 130 reviews and a steadier 4.0 on TripAdvisor. Six PADI awards on the wall, one a year through most of the 2010s, back up the same reputation: a centre that does things by the book, and expects its divers to as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who founded ATLANTIK and who runs it today?
The Christoph family from Germany, led by patriarch Eberhard, opened the school in 1994. His sons Thomas and Dirk run it today, Thomas as General Manager and Dirk handling instruction and administration.
Is ATLANTIK a good choice for a casual, one-off holiday dive?
It can be, but reviews consistently describe a centre built around thorough safety briefings and technical precision rather than a relaxed single dive day, so it suits divers who want to be pushed on technique more than those after a laid-back dip.
Does ATLANTIK teach technical diving?
Yes, through its PRO TEC programme, covering rebreather training on Draeger Dolphin SCR and Submatix SCR and CCR units alongside deep and trimix instruction, in addition to the standard PADI and SSI course ladder.
What is the daily diving schedule at ATLANTIK?
Two boat dives run most days with a fixed 8:50am meeting time. There is no late joining for the second dive and no return to base between dives, so divers wanting only the first dive need to arrange their own way back.
Is ATLANTIK open year-round?
Almost. The centre closes on Sundays and for the whole of May, when staff take their annual holiday, but otherwise operates through the year.
Which dive sites did ATLANTIK discover?
The centre's founders spent its early years searching the north coast systematically, and several of the sites they located and named decades ago are still part of the regular boat-dive rotation today.
Can beginners take a try dive with ATLANTIK?
Yes, Discover Scuba Diving is available from age eight upward, and a pool-based try dive is also offered for anyone wanting a first taste before committing to open water.
