About Davy Jones Diving

Davy Jones Diving has taught at Casa Limón in Playa de Arinaga for more than two decades, longer than either of the other centers working this stretch of coast. Owner and chief instructor Brian Goldthorpe, diving since the mid-1990s, started the business with his late wife Marilyn. The team now includes Eduardo Vera González, who first dived these waters in 1986 and has logged more than 10,000 dives since, alongside Héctor Vera García and Brett Sharman. The center has held PADI 5-Star status since 2006.

Diving here runs mostly from the shore at El Cabrón, with named routes including Punta de la Sal, plus trips north to Sardina del Norte, Taliarte, and the Las Palmas wreck cluster for divers with the certification to reach 30 to 40 meters. Between dives, Casa Limón's private garden gives divers somewhere to sit with a coffee. Free hotel pickup covers the south of the island, and a Flexi-Book policy waives deposit, cancellation, and change fees. The center also price-matches other operators working the same stretch of coast.

Casa Limón hosted a three-year University of Las Palmas study on angel sharks in these waters, one of several links between the center and the marine research done here.

What Divers Say

Davy Jones Diving carries the longest review history of the centers researched on this coast: 358 TripAdvisor reviews averaging 4.7, rated "Very Good," with a Certificate of Excellence every year from 2014 to 2023. Reviewers name Eduardo and Brian specifically, and one diver called a dive at Punta de la Sal among the best he had done anywhere. Most of the negative signal is thin or old, but a detailed complaint from spring 2026 describes a mismatch between the website's advertised pickup and facilities and what was offered when the reviewer inquired, ending in a dismissive exchange. It reads as a single, specific account rather than a pattern. It stands out mainly because the center's broader history runs so consistently positive.
