About DS Divers Malta

DS Divers Malta began as Buceo Malta, opened by a Franco-Spanish couple, Laurent and Rosa, who built a following among Malta's Spanish-speaking divers. One of their Open Water students, Diego Scuro, a Venezuelan instructor who took up diving after years of spearfishing with his father, later took over the business with his partner Génesis Jiménez. The pair then partnered with PADI Course Director Diego Sánchez and rebranded as DS Divers Malta, based in Qawra, St Paul's Bay.

The centre still runs largely for Spanish-speaking visitors, with small groups built around personal attention rather than large tour-style dive days. Certified divers cover the north side of the island at Cirkewwa, diving both the Rozi and P29 wrecks from the same site, plus the Imperial Eagle, Tug 2 and HMS Maori. Um El Faroud rounds out the wreck circuit, with Comino and Gozo trips run as extensions. The centre also offers adaptive and accessible boat diving alongside its standard PADI course ladder, from Discover Scuba Diving through specialty training in wreck, deep and buoyancy skills.

What Divers Say

DS Divers Malta holds 4.9/5 across 512 Google reviews. TripAdvisor, still listed under the earlier Buceo Malta name, shows the same 4.9/5 rating across a smaller sample, all marked Excellent or Good with nothing lower. Between the two platforms there's no sign of a recurring complaint, and the gap in review counts reflects a pattern common in Malta, where most guests leave a Google review in person rather than logging onto TripAdvisor afterwards. Reviews as a whole point to a steady following built through word of mouth in the Spanish-speaking diving community.
