About ZOEA Mallorca

ZOEA Mallorca has operated from Club Náutico Santa Ponsa since 1997, with the Reserva Marina de les Illes del Ponent as its home dive ground. El Toro, the Malgrats islands, and Isla del Sec are the core sites — reached by one of three RIBs within 5-15 minutes. The programme extends further with day trips to Dragonera island reserve and Cabrera National Park, covering a range of protected waters that few SW Mallorca operators match. Free transfers connect the centre to the resort belt across Calvià: Santa Ponsa, Magaluf, Palmanova, and Paguera.

The PADI 5-Star IDC certification has been in place since opening. For discovery dives, the model is one-to-one instruction — a dedicated instructor per participant, regardless of group size. This arrangement is the feature reviewers most consistently single out, particularly families and first-time divers for whom the individual attention shifts the experience from managed risk to genuine enjoyment. In summer, morning and afternoon departures accommodate different schedules; from November to March, weekend-only boats keep the operation active through the off-season.

Equipment is a 60+ piece Scubapro fleet, with cylinders from 5 to 18 litres for children from age eight upwards. Languages covered: Spanish, English, German, and French.

What Divers Say

The one-to-one discovery dive model draws the most consistent praise. Reviewers describe the experience as tailored and unhurried — individual attention that converts first-timers and cautious families into confident divers. The Scubapro equipment and the RIB logistics to El Toro and the Malgrats are frequently cited as justifying the price, particularly from guests who have used larger multi-diver operations elsewhere. A recurring observation among returning divers is continuity: the same attentive team, visit after visit. Several reviewers describe the centre as their standing reference when they return to SW Mallorca, rather than a one-off booking. Value for money is a common positive note in the reserve dive context.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which marine reserves and sites can I dive from Club Náutico Santa Ponsa?
The centre's main dive ground is the Reserva Marina de les Illes del Ponent — El Toro, the Malgrats islands, and Isla del Sec, all within 5-15 minutes by RIB. Day trips extend the programme to Dragonera island reserve and Cabrera National Park.
Can children try scuba diving at ZOEA Mallorca?
Discovery dives start from age 8. The centre stocks 5-litre cylinders and assigns a dedicated instructor to each child. Junior PADI courses are available from age 10, with children's programme options for both younger and older kids.
Does ZOEA Mallorca operate in winter?
The centre runs daily from April through October, with morning and afternoon boat departures. From November to March, operations continue on weekends and public holidays with a single morning departure — one of the active year-round centres in SW Mallorca.
Is there a fee to dive El Toro or the Malgrats?
CAIB charges a 5.24 EUR per diver per day authorisation fee for the Illes del Ponent reserve. This is often bundled into the guided reserve dive price — confirm when booking whether it is included.
What specialty and professional courses are available?
Specialties include Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Underwater Photographer, Night Diver, Navigation, and Boat Diver. Professional programmes run from Divemaster through Assistant Instructor to PADI Diving Instructor.
Are transfers included from the main Calvià resorts?
Yes. Free pick-up and drop-off operates throughout the Calvià area: Santa Ponsa, Calvià town, Palmanova, Magaluf, and the Paguera area. Contact the centre to arrange a pickup point.
