The dive
The Piscina is a natural pool among the Illes Malgrats, off Santa Ponsa on the south-west coast of Calvià, and its water is about two metres deep. Boats cover the run from the Santa Ponsa centres in roughly five to ten minutes. ZOEA runs Discover Scuba sessions here for guests with no certification, and its entry points range from this pool to the protected shallows of Cala Fornells.
What makes it special
Two metres is the shallowest of ZOEA's Malgrats-area spots. Its Malgrats Discover Scuba dive, which starts from the beach, reaches 8 m, so the Piscina is the place where a first breath underwater costs the least depth.
Know before you go
Every dive in the reserve takes a personal, paid authorisation. Whether the session sits inside the Malgrats high-protection zone decides the rest: there, dives run only at four set points, with at most 12 divers per point and visit and never more than 48 at once, night diving is banned, and the annual authorisation is not valid.

Which reserve rules apply to a Discover Scuba session at the Piscina?▾
The personal reserve authorisation applies to any dive in the Ponent reserve. The four-point rule, the diver caps, the night-diving ban and the invalidity of the annual authorisation apply to dives inside the Malgrats high-protection zone. The Piscina is a shallow first-dive spot, so ask the operator whether your session runs inside that zone and carry the daily authorisation if it does.
