About

Scuba Ibiza sits 30 metres from the Marina Botafoch boarding point, and that proximity sets the pace. The facility has a large shaded terrace for rinsing and drying gear, 30 individual storage lockers, hot showers, a classroom, and an Air/Nitrox filling station. The boat, a 12-metre semi-rigid named Longimanus Two, carries up to 12 divers with twin fin-friendly ladders, a sun awning, and safety kit including an AED, O2 first-aid equipment, and VHF radio. Hyperbaric chamber access is contracted with Clinica Nuestra Senora del Rosario, ten minutes away.

The center holds two credentials that no other dive center in the Balearic Islands has: the PADI 5 Star Career Development Center rating, maintained by having two permanent Course Directors on staff, and the PADI Eco Center designation, which it earned before any other center in the islands. Owner Paulo Peixoto Ramos is a Course Director, licensed skipper, and professional diver, with qualifications in technical diving, adaptive techniques, and underwater photography. The second permanent Course Director is Isabele Fayos, whose specialties include reef conservation and underwater naturalist training.

Guided dives run in groups of five to six divers, with three to four departures daily. The primary territory is the Es Freus Marine Reserve within the Ses Salines Natural Park. Nitrox is included at no charge for certified divers on every dive. The course ladder runs from Discover Snorkeling through the full IDC, with TecRec programs for divers stepping past recreational limits. Nine languages are spoken across the team, and complimentary hotel transfers serve four towns across the island.

What Divers Say

Professionalism is the word that runs through the reviews. Divers describe an operation that is tightly organized from registration to post-dive briefings, where safety feels like the baseline, not a sales point. The boat and facilities draw consistent praise for condition and layout.

Marine life in the Es Freus reserve gets detailed attention. Groupers, barracuda, moray eels, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and octopuses appear across many accounts, often spotted within a single 30-minute dive. Staff knowledge of species identification is a recurring theme. Several globally-travelled divers position the center as among the most professional operations they have encountered anywhere. Nervous and returning divers frequently describe feeling genuinely looked after, with the free Nitrox and Flexi Rate booking drawing positive comment from those planning multi-dive packages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PADI Eco Center and why does it matter?
A PADI Eco Center is awarded to centers that demonstrate a sustained commitment to marine conservation, including reef-safe practices, environmental education, and participation in citizen science or clean-up initiatives. Scuba Ibiza was the first center in the Balearic Islands to earn this designation.
What makes Scuba Ibiza different from other dive centers on the island?
It holds the only PADI 5 Star Career Development Center rating in the Balearic Islands, with two permanent Course Directors. That structure lets you go from zero experience to PADI Instructor without switching centers. Most Ibiza shops cap out at Divemaster.
Is Nitrox included with guided dives at Scuba Ibiza?
Yes. Nitrox is free for all divers who hold a valid Nitrox certification. No supplement, no advance booking required. Divers without the cert can add the Enriched Air specialty for EUR 297.80.
What dive sites does Scuba Ibiza visit?
The center operates primarily in the Es Freus Marine Reserve within the Ses Salines Natural Park, south of Ibiza. Confirmed sites include the Don Pedro wreck, La Plataforma, and Dado Pequeno. Boat transit from Marina Botafoch ranges from 5 to 60 minutes depending on the site.
Does Scuba Ibiza offer hotel transfers?
Free transfers are available from Ibiza Town, Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonio, and Santa Eulalia. Transfers cover divers, snorkelers, and companions.
Can I dive with Scuba Ibiza if I have a disability?
Yes. The center offers adaptive diving with accessible boat trips, adaptive equipment, and staff trained in personalized support for divers with disabilities.
What should I expect for water temperature when diving in Ibiza?
Temperatures range from roughly 14 degrees Celsius in winter to 26 degrees at the surface in August and September. In May, expect around 15 degrees and plan for a 7mm suit with gloves and hood. A thermocline around 20m can drop temperatures by several degrees even in summer.
