About
Diving Cap de Creus is the name on the website; every reviewer and its own social accounts call it Ulla & Paul, the name it opened under in 1975. The centre sits on Cadaqués's Es Caials shore, a 45-metre walk from Cala Es Bofill and a 100-metre walk from Cala S'Oliguera, both diveable in most conditions and used for beginner and night dives. A single inflatable boat, based at Cala S'Oliguera, runs at least once a day on what the centre calls its own informal schedule, plus extra outings by arrangement, reaching sites across Cap de Creus Natural Park including Isla Massa d'Or and El Gat.
Training runs through CMAS, RSTC and the International Aquanautic Club, not PADI: six sea dives and a CMAS Bronze star Open Water Diver card for beginners, plus advanced and instructor-level courses for experienced divers. Sea-scooter dives run year-round alongside the course ladder. Julia and Claas Braeutigam run the centre now; a guest who came back after twenty years, in 2019, described them as just as friendly and welcoming as the founders they had taken over from. Decades of bookings from German schools, universities and dive clubs, including Cologne's Sporthochschule and a Koblenz fire brigade, point to where much of its custom still comes from.
What divers say
A pattern shows up across years of reviews that is distinct to this centre: several divers describe the diving itself as self-directed, paired off with a buddy at their own pace once briefed, not run as a tightly guided group. Claas comes up repeatedly as the instructor running courses, praised for a calm, unhurried teaching style with small groups. Long-time customers recur too, including one who returned after twenty years and found the welcome unchanged under new management.
A separate complaint recurs in two languages, years apart: reviewers describe agreements that changed after booking, and in one case, a certification card that was not recognised back home. Anyone training here for a certification they will need abroad should confirm it is recognised before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Diving Cap de Creus PADI affiliated?▾
No. Its own site lists CMAS, RSTC and the International Aquanautic Club as its certifying bodies, and it carries no listing in the SSI or PADI directories. One German diving-directory profile lists PADI too, but nothing on the centre's own site backs that up, so treat it as unconfirmed.
What's within walking distance of the centre?▾
Two shore dives: Cala Es Bofill, a 45-metre walk, sheltered and shallow, used for training and night dives, with rock formations and fish beyond 40 metres at the cove mouth for advanced divers; and Cala S'Oliguera, a 100-metre walk with two access routes, including a steep scramble path.
Does the centre keep a fixed daily boat schedule?▾
Not a strict one. The boat, based at Cala S'Oliguera, goes out at least once a day on what the centre describes as its own informal schedule, with extra trips added by request instead of a posted timetable.
How do I book a dive or course?▾
By phone or email; the centre has no online booking system. Its Instagram, Facebook and TikTok accounts post current activity too.
Is instruction available in English?▾
Yes. A reviewer who trained there noted the whole team spoke very good English. The client base is strongly German, evident in long-running partnerships with German schools, universities and a fire brigade, though the site itself is only in Spanish.
What long-running group partnerships does the centre have?▾
Decades of bookings from German schools and universities, including Cologne's Sporthochschule, Münster, Tübingen, Potsdam and Mainz, continuing education for the Koblenz fire brigade, and several dive clubs. It's a strong indicator of where much of its steady, repeat custom comes from.
