About

Anemone Diving Center runs from Local 5-6 at Port Marina Palamós, a short walk from La Fosca Beach. The operation is built around daily boat dives year-round, covering the headline sites of the Palamós coast: the Ullastres pinnacles, the Boreas WWII wreck, Illes Formigues, and Llosa de Palamós. Shore dives leave directly from La Fosca, less than 100 metres away.

The center holds triple certification across PADI, SSI, and CMAS/FEDAS, with SSI Instructor Training Center status for professional development pathways. Owner and technical director Jaime Rovira Blanco holds instructor qualifications through all three agencies; DAN-certified instructor Enrique rounds out the permanent team. Beyond recreational diving, the program extends to Nitrox, night dives, wreck diving, freediving, and grotto courses.

All equipment is MARES -- Anemone is an authorized MARES center. The VellMari, a 10-metre boat, takes up to 27 divers and covers sites from Begur to Sant Feliu de Guixols. The team operates in five languages: Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, and Russian. Accommodation and airport transfer services are also available for visiting divers.

What Divers Say

Small groups are the clearest pattern across reviews. Divers compare the experience favorably to larger Palamós operations and note that boat trips often run with just a handful of participants. For a port with several active dive centers, that distinction registers quickly.

Staff come up by name. Jaime, Kevin, Ramon, and Jose all draw personal mentions across reviews, and first-time divers describe patient, calm instruction. One visitor credited instructor Jose with taking away her fear of diving entirely. The center holds a 4.8 rating on Google from 48 reviews, 44 of them at five stars. Equipment quality, facilities, and year-round availability earn consistent praise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What certifications does Anemone Diving Center offer?
Three agency systems: PADI, SSI, and CMAS/FEDAS. SSI courses run from Scuba Diver through Advanced Adventurer with specialties covering wreck diving, night diving, underwater photography, and caverns. The center holds SSI Instructor Training Center status for those pursuing instructor development. PADI Open Water and CMAS/FEDAS courses are available alongside freediving and apnea programs.
How much does a try dive cost at Anemone Diving?
Beach try dives start at 80 EUR and boat try dives at 105 EUR. The beach option takes place at La Fosca, less than 100 metres from the center. Boat try dives go out on the VellMari to one of the local sites in the Palamós area.
Does Anemone Diving do boat dives to the Boreas wreck?
Yes. The Boreas WWII wreck is one of their regular boat destinations. Trips depart daily from Port Marina on the VellMari, a 10-metre vessel with capacity for 27 people. Other frequent destinations include the Ullastres pinnacles, Illes Formigues, and Llosa de Palamós.
Is Anemone Diving good for first-time divers?
Multiple reviewers specifically mention first-time experiences at Anemone. Groups tend to be smaller than at the larger operations in Palamós, and instructors including Jose and Jaime receive personal praise for patience with beginners. Beach try dives from La Fosca offer a calm entry into the water.
What languages does the team speak?
Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, and Russian. Owner Jaime Rovira Blanco and instructor Enrique both hold multilingual qualifications, and the team's language range is one of the broader offerings among Palamós dive centers.
What facilities does Anemone Diving Center have?
The center is at Port Marina Palamós, with showers, lockers, and a bar area on site. Full MARES equipment rental is available. The marina location also means easy parking and a short walk to the restaurants and services along the port promenade. Accommodation is offered through the center, though details are not published.
