About

Diversub works the Cala Gogo seafront at Sant Antoni de Calonge, with its base set inside the Camping Gogo grounds and a quiet stretch of beach for pre-dive briefings. The boat leaves from Port Marina de Palamos a short drive north. Between the two it covers a spread of the southern Costa Brava: the Boreas wreck, the Ullastres pinnacles, Illes Formigues, Roca Roja, Llosa de Palamos, the Tunels de Port Salvi, and trips down to Tamariu and Tossa.

The centre is small on purpose. Discover-scuba sessions take no more than two guests, courses no more than four, and the discover dive is a real 40-minute dive rather than a few minutes in the shallows. Training pairs SSI self-study material with face-to-face theory, and rental kit runs to integrated-weight BCDs with dive computers issued during courses. The certification track is SSI throughout, from Basic Diver and Scuba Diver up through Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, and Dive Master, with specialties in Nitrox, Deep, Dry Suit, Night, Navigation, and Buoyancy.

Instructors Alice and Mickey turn up by name in diver write-ups, which fits the picture of a small steady team rather than a rotating roster. English, French, Spanish, and Catalan are all spoken. The season runs from April to late September, parking at the Cala Gogo base is free, and bookings are taken in advance by phone or email with weather cancellations free of charge.

What Divers Say

Diver reviews are uniformly strong, with a 5.0 rating on both of its main listings. The recurring themes are consistent: a small, personal, family-friendly atmosphere, patient and thorough instructors, clear briefings before each dive, and clean, well-kept equipment. Alice and Mickey are named again and again for their teaching and their patience.

Many of the divers writing in are first-timers, working through a discover-scuba session or a multi-day beginner course, often as families or couples spread over several days. That matches the centre's low-group-size model. The Cala Gogo and Palamos dive spots themselves draw praise for scenery and marine life. No real complaint cluster surfaces; the rare non-top rating still lands at "Good".

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Diversub based and where do the dives leave from?
The centre sits on the Cala Gogo seafront at Ses Torretes, inside the Camping Gogo grounds at Sant Antoni de Calonge, with free parking on site. Boat dives run from Port Marina de Palamos, a short drive up the coast.
Is Diversub a PADI or SSI center?
Diversub is an SSI center. Courses follow SSI nomenclature, from Basic Diver and Scuba Diver up through Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Dive Master, and the Dive Control rating, plus specialties such as Nitrox, Deep, Dry Suit, Night, Navigation, and Buoyancy.
How big are the groups?
Small by design. Discover scuba sessions take a maximum of two guests and courses a maximum of four, so beginners get close, direct supervision rather than being slotted into a large group.
Is Diversub good for first-time divers?
Yes. The discover-scuba session is a 40-minute in-water dive in a group of no more than two, and the multi-day beginner courses pair self-study material with face-to-face theory. Many reviewers do their first ever dive here, often as families or couples.
Which dive sites does Diversub run trips to?
The boat works a spread of southern Costa Brava sites: the Boreas wreck, the Ullastres pinnacles, Illes Formigues, Roca Roja, and Llosa de Palamos off Palamos, the Tunels de Port Salvi at Sant Feliu de Guixols, and trips down to Tamariu and La Mar Menuda at Tossa.
When is Diversub open?
The season runs roughly from the start of April to late September, with the listing showing 10:00 to 19:00 daily. Advance reservation is required by phone or email, and pre-payment confirms the booking.
What does a guided boat dive cost?
A boat dive with a tank is 45 EUR, a dive with a guide is 53 EUR, and a dive with full equipment and a guide is 65 EUR. Two dives with equipment come to 110 EUR. Nitrox adds 8 EUR and a night dive adds 10 EUR.
