About

Palamos Dive Center has worked the inner basin of Port Marina Palamós for more than two decades, with the boat berth twenty-five metres from the door and the shore-training cove of Cala del Morro del Vedell directly in front. The business operates as Dive Center Palamós, S.L. and is the only one of the five centres around the marina that publishes a full price list online, including the Llosa de Palamós run as a flat 41 EUR trip.

The centre is dual-affiliated, SSI Certified Center alongside PADI, with instructors holding both PADI credentials and the Generalitat de Catalunya's regional certification. Owner Jordi is named in recent Google reviews ("thanks to Jordi and his fabulous team"), and dive masters Guillem and Marina also turn up by first name. Beyond recreational diving the operation runs a professional services arm (boat rescue, hydraulic works, and underwater search and recovery), which is unusual among the area's operators and explains the on-site workshop that services regulators, BCDs, dry suits, tanks, and computers.

Day-to-day, boat dives leave from the marina berth and shore dives from the cove out front. Group sizes default to three to six divers per guide for a 10 EUR per-person supplement, or a personal-guide option capped at two for a flat 30 EUR. Air and Nitrox fills are produced on site. The centre also runs international liveaboard trips on the M/V Suny Revolution, a 26-passenger boat, and a hyperbaric chamber sits within 500 metres of the facility.

What Divers Say

Across hundreds of recent reviews the patterns are consistent. Owner Jordi and the dive masters Guillem and Marina are named in different write-ups, which signals a small steady team rather than a rotating roster. The recurring themes are professional and friendly staff, well-maintained gear, easy parking right in front, and the underwater encounters typical of the Palamós sites: barracuda, scorpionfish, and moray eels around the Boreas wreck and the Ullastres pinnacles. Open Water students describe trainers staying calm with stressed divers and adapting to individual pace.

Aggregate scoring sits at 4.8 out of 5 across 237 Google ratings, the second-largest review corpus among the five Palamós centres. A small minority of write-ups note mixed impressions of training quality on certain course tracks, which is worth raising directly with the centre when booking the program you want.

Frequently Asked Questions

What courses does Palamos Dive Center offer?
The catalogue runs from Bubblemaker (children from age 8) and Try Dive at the entry end through Scuba Diver, Open Water (standard, with-Nitrox, or Personalized), Advanced Adventures, Stress & Rescue, and seven specialty cards (Wreck, Deep, Navigation, Night, Dry Suit, Perfect Buoyancy, Scooter), up to Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and First Aid Instructor at the pro end.
How much does a single boat dive cost?
A boat dive with tank only is 38 EUR, or 58 EUR with full equipment minus computer. A double boat dive runs 72 EUR with tank or 106 EUR with full kit. Three hours of free port parking are included with any booked boat activity.
What dive sites does the centre cover?
The boat works the Palamós-Begur-Sant Feliu corridor, including Llosa de Palamós, Cala Margarida, Illes Formigues, Ullastres I/II/III, Roca Roja, the Boreas wreck, El Tabal, and Roca del Món. Shore dives leave from Cala del Morro del Vedell, the training cove directly in front of the centre.
Is Palamos Dive Center open year-round?
Yes. Among the five centres in Port Marina Palamós, this one is the most explicit about year-round operation. The website lists daily 9:00 to 19:00, while Google Places returned 9:00 to 17:00 on a recent check, so afternoon hours likely compress in the off-season.
What languages do the staff speak?
Catalan, Spanish, English, and French. The website is published in all four languages.
Is a medical certificate required to dive in Palamós?
Yes. Spanish dive law (1997) and the Catalonia 2000 regulation require a medical questionnaire before any in-water activity, regardless of whether you book online, by phone, or walk in.
Does the centre rent underwater scooters?
Yes. DPV rental is 45 EUR per dive, and a Scooter specialty course is offered at 250 EUR. The centre is the only Palamós operator advertising scooter dives as a regular service.
