About
The offshore weeks to the Brother Islands, Daedalus, Rocky Island and Zabargad are open to divers with 50 logged dives, the operator's rule for its marine-park tours. Depth is capped at 40 m, decompression dives are prohibited, and night diving is generally not allowed on those tours.
Out there, what the Steel offers is a safety set-up built for open water. Every diver is equipped with an ENOS-type locator, so someone who drifts from the group can be tracked. Two zodiacs with 40 hp outboards handle drop-off and pickup, and the boat carries oxygen, first aid and two 20-person life rafts.
The hull is steel, 48 m long and built in 2022, with 12 double cabins and 3 suites for up to 30 divers. It is the larger of Seawolf's two boats; the Seawolf Dominator is 42 m. Nitrox (EAN32) in 12-litre tanks is filled from a nitrox compressor on board, with an analyser at hand.
North tours leave from Hurghada, and the Deep South and St John's tours from Marsa Ghaleb, better known as Port Ghalib. Park, port and fuel fees are charged on top of the fare.
What divers say
Only one guest has reviewed the Steel, after a Deep South week in December 2024, and they recommend it. They liked how readily the crew agreed to take the group to different sites, praised the guides and their briefings, and gave safety and the standard of the boat and equipment as their reasons for recommending it.
The group was mostly German speakers with some Russian speakers, so little English was spoken around the table.

Is the Steel the boat on my dates?▾
Seawolf runs two boats, the Steel and the 42 m Dominator, and its route list covers the whole fleet. The same route can be sailed by either boat, so ask which one is assigned to the departure you want before you book.
Do I need 50 logged dives?▾
For the marine-park tours to the Brother Islands, Daedalus, Rocky Island and Zabargad, yes: the operator requires 50 logged dives in the logbook. Every diver on board needs a valid certification and a logbook.
How deep can I dive, and are night dives or decompression dives allowed?▾
The maximum depth is 40 m and the operator prohibits decompression dives. Night diving is generally not allowed on the marine-park tours.
Do I need dive insurance for the trip?▾
The operator strongly recommends DAN or Aqua Med cover. Decompression-chamber cover can also be bought on board.
What language is spoken on board?▾
The crew speaks English, German and Russian. One guest on a Deep South week found little English around the table because most of the group spoke German or Russian.
When can I board on arrival day?▾
Check-in is not before 18:00. Board service runs from dinner on the first day to breakfast on the last.
