About

Blue Melody is a 38-metre wooden liveaboard, the smaller sister to Blue Horizon, and it runs the identical Master Liveaboards Egyptian Red Sea catalogue. Thirteen ensuite cabins, ten Classic Twins on the lower deck and three Premium Doubles above, sleep 26 guests, and a 2025 refit is recent. Because the two Master sisters share one route book, choosing between them is about hull size and cabin layout rather than where you dive. Northern Red Sea Wrecks & Reefs and Strait of Tiran & North run year-round from Hurghada and are the accessible starts. The offshore Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone weeks and the Deep South Rocky, Zabargad and St John's routes depart Hurghada or Port Ghalib roughly March to November, are weather-dependent, and assume drift and blue-water competence. A nitrox membrane feeds the boat as a surcharge, and rebreather and technical divers are catered for on request and subject to availability. Government marine-park and port fees are collected by the operator. One practical note for camera divers: a February 2026 Egyptian maritime regulation had in-cabin power sockets removed fleet-wide, so battery charging is at shared points.

What Divers Say

Blue Melody is the smaller of the two Master sisters and runs the same route book, so the choice between it and Blue Horizon comes down to hull size and cabin layout rather than where you dive. The 2025 refit is recent, and repeat Red Sea divers tend to frame both Master hulls as well-run, honestly priced wooden boats with SSI guiding rather than luxury cruisers. As with Blue Horizon, the offshore Brothers-Daedalus-Elphinstone and Rocky-Zabargad-St John's weeks assume drift and blue-water competence, while the northern wreck and Tiran weeks are the accessible entry points. A practical, recurring note for underwater photographers is the recent regulatory removal of in-cabin power sockets, which shifts charging to shared points.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it different from Blue Horizon?
They are near-identical 26-guest Master sisters on the same Egypt route catalogue. Blue Melody is a slightly smaller hull (38m versus 41m) with 10 lower-deck twins and 3 upper-deck doubles. Pick by cabin layout and availability, not itinerary.
Does it support technical diving and rebreathers?
Yes. Blue Melody caters for rebreather and technical divers, subject to availability, with an onboard nitrox membrane. Arrange your gas and support in advance.
Is nitrox included?
No, nitrox is a surcharge, roughly USD 90-135 per trip. The membrane system is onboard, so bring your certification card.
Where does it depart from?
Hurghada for the northern routes, and Port Ghalib for the Deep South and St John's routes.
Can I charge cameras and dive computers in my cabin?
Note that a February 2026 Egyptian maritime regulation had in-cabin power sockets and USB ports removed fleet-wide, so charging is at shared points. Bring a multi-charger and confirm current arrangements when you book.
When do the offshore and Deep South routes run?
Roughly March to November, and they are weather-dependent.
