Northern wreck and reef routes run year-round from Hurghada. The offshore Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone weeks run roughly March to November and are weather-dependent.

About

Emperor Superior is a 37-metre wooden liveaboard that runs Emperor Divers' northern Red Sea weeks out of Hurghada. Thirteen ensuite cabins sleep 26 guests across four decks. Its home water is the north. Reefs & Wrecks and Get Wrecked run all year, pairing the SS Thistlegorm and the wreck graveyard at Abu Nuhas with relaxed reef diving in the Straits of Tiran and Ras Mohammed. When the offshore season opens around March, the Famous Five and Simply the Best routes push out to the Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone for shark-wall diving. That window runs to about November. Free nitrox to 32 percent is included, and rebreather or sidemount divers can arrange gas in advance. Who does it suit? Northern wreck weeks reward good buoyancy and comfort in surge, while the offshore plateaus assume current experience. Newer divers fit the gentler North & Easy route. Fares are genuinely all-inclusive. The government park and port charges are collected inside the price, along with fuel and free nitrox, rather than added at the marina.

What Divers Say

Repeat guests describe a friendly, well-drilled crew and guides who know the northern wrecks intimately, pacing the SS Thistlegorm and Abu Nuhas to sidestep the day-boat crowds. Free nitrox and honest all-inclusive pricing come up often as standout value. Portions are generous. The atmosphere reads relaxed and unpretentious. Cabins get called comfortable and practical rather than luxurious, fitting a wooden hull that has been refitted rather than newly built. Divers with a few trips behind them value guiding that stays flexible with weather and current. The recurring caution: northern wreck weeks reward experience, and buoyancy, penetration awareness and comfort in surge all matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much diving experience do I need for Emperor Superior?
The northern wreck routes suit intermediate divers. For the offshore weeks with wreck penetration, plan on around 50 logged dives and an Advanced qualification. The gentler North & Easy route asks less.
Which airport do I fly into?
Hurghada (HRG). Airport transfers to the boat are included.
Is nitrox really free?
Yes, free to 32 percent from the onboard membrane system. Bring your nitrox certification card.
Can I dive both the Thistlegorm and Abu Nuhas on one trip?
Yes. The Reefs & Wrecks and Get Wrecked itineraries pair the SS Thistlegorm with the Abu Nuhas wreck graveyard.
Does Emperor Superior visit the Brothers?
Yes, on the Famous Five and Simply the Best (BDE) routes, roughly March to November and subject to weather.
Can I dive on a rebreather or sidemount?
Yes, on request. Arrange your gas and configuration with Emperor in advance.
