The northern wreck and reef weeks run year-round from Hurghada or Sharm. The offshore Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone and Deep South weeks run roughly March to November and depend on weather. About

Typhoon is a 34-metre steel liveaboard, built in 2020, that runs Tornado Marine Fleet's full Egyptian spread. Ten cabins, one suite and nine twins, sleep 20 guests. It is the fleet's do-everything hull. On rotation through the season the boat works northern wreck weeks out of Hurghada or Sharm, pairing the SS Thistlegorm and the Abu Nuhas graveyard with the reefs of the Straits of Tiran. When the offshore season opens it heads south to the Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone, then a Deep South week reaching Rocky Island and the St John's caves. The dive deck is built for twinsets and rebreathers, with tanks filled in place and nitrox on board. Who does it suit? Northern wreck weeks reward good buoyancy and comfort in surge. The offshore and Deep South weeks assume current experience, an Advanced card and about 50 logged dives. Government park and port fees are collected by the crew rather than added at the marina. The pitch is range and access over resort luxury.

What Divers Say

Typhoon reads as the fleet's do-everything boat. A newer steel build with a roomy dive deck set up for twinsets and rebreathers, it lets a diver choose the week rather than the boat. Wreck runs on the Thistlegorm and Abu Nuhas sit at one end of the season, the Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone and a Deep South Rocky and St John's week at the other. The recurring frame is a capable, well-run platform for intermediate to experienced divers, with the offshore weeks assuming solid drift and current skills. Nitrox and a camera-friendly deck are the practical draws. Luxury framing stays secondary to range and access.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much diving experience do I need for Typhoon?
The northern Wrecks and Reefs week suits intermediate divers. Get Wrecked and the Brothers, BDE and Deep South weeks expect an Advanced qualification, with around 50 logged dives on the Brothers and southern offshore routes.
Which port does Typhoon leave from?
Hurghada is the main base. Northern wreck weeks can run from Sharm el-Sheikh and southern or BDE weeks from Port Ghalib. Confirm the port for your chosen departure.
Is nitrox available on board?
Yes. Typhoon carries an onboard nitrox system. Bring your nitrox certification card.
Can I dive the Thistlegorm and the Brothers on the same trip?
Not in the same week. The Thistlegorm sits on the northern routes and the Brothers on the BDE and Brothers Wreck Special weeks. Typhoon runs both across the season, so pick the week that matches.
Can I dive a rebreather or twinset?
Yes. The dive deck is set up for twinsets and rebreathers, with tanks filled in place. Trimix is not advertised, so arrange any mixed-gas needs in advance.
What does a trip cost?
Tornado publishes seasonal pricelists on request rather than a fixed public rate, so the band shown is indicative only. Government park and port fees are collected by the operator, and flights are separate.
